Dear parents,
I hope that you had the chance to read “The Shushan Dispatch” that the 5th
grade students wrote in Hebrew. This newspaper was so much fun for the students to write, and it really showed their increasing ability to express themselves in Hebrew.
If you want another copy of “The Shushan Dispatch”, please contact me at ggolan@torahacademy.org

The egg projects arrived to school, and they look wonderful. The students wrote
cards, describing their eggs, using sentence patterns we’ve practiced in class.
I can’t wait for you to see all these wonderful projects during the achievement
fair.

This week we studied vocabulary words that are related to things around the house. The students played Hebrew Tic- Tac- To (in Hebrew it’s
called X-Mix-Drix), and demonstrate their fluency of these words.
The test on these words will be on Monday, March 28th. (Pretest was today.)
You can find a copy of the words bellow, and in your child’s Hebrew grammar folder.

Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Galit

Directions for the project and the "Shushan Dispach".

Dear 5th Grade parents,

We are learning so much in Hebrew class!
We read the story הביצה שהתחפשה/ מאת דן פגיס
and now, we are ready to start our project. The students will combine creativity with free writing,They will dress up two eggs and write about it. The complete directions for the project are posted bellow.

This week, in honor of Chag Purim, we will write the "Shushan Dispach". If you like to read an interview with Queen Esther, read about the evil plan of Bigtan and Teresh, and see pictures of Haman, by and on the tree, - the "Shushan Dispach" is the newspaper for you. (Coming up this Friday.)

בס"ד
Directions for the project about the story-
הביצה שהתחפשה/ מאת דן פגיס

During the past few weeks, we’ve learned the story: ” הביצה שהתחפשה”.
The story, which talks about self search, and how to choose friends, describes the journey of an egg that tries to find a friend. The egg tries to dress up in different costumes, in order to become something else, and find a friend.

As part of your project, you will dress up two eggs. One of the eggs will be dressed up in one of the costumes shown in the book. The other egg will be dressed as something else, by your choice. Use your imagination to decide.

You can use real eggs, and empty them ahead of time. (To empty an egg, poke a hole in the egg, using a needle. Do it with the help of an adult. Let the egg stand for a few days, until all its substance leaks out.)
Another option is to use plastic eggs. (You can find them now in
Wal-Mart or the dollar stores), or use an oval shaped Styrofoam.

The second part of the project will be done in class. Student will describe each egg they decorated, and write its characteristics.
Note to parents: Students will take their books home, to use while working on this project.
Projects are due by March 23rd
