Making a salad- in Hebrew!

Shalom 5th grade Parents and Students,

Last week we completed our fruit and vegetable unit, and to celebrate it and use our knowledge in Hebrew, we will be making salads together this Friday, 12/2/11, (and will eat them as well…)
Please send with your child tomorrow 2 fresh fruits (such as orange, apple, grapes, cantaloupe etc) and two fresh vegetables (such as cucumber, tomato, pepper, red pepper etc).
We also need a few volunteers on Friday, between 11:30-12:30, to help us with the preparations, clean up and cooking. (It will count as give and get hours).
Please let me know ASAP if you are interested.

I hope that you had a fantastic Thanksgiving break.
In class, we are reading the story:
"איך נפתור השנה בעיות בכיתה"
This story deals with the challenge of tolerance towards others, as well as in ways to solve problems.
The students have received a worksheet in which they will list words that they don't understand in the book. The categories in the worksheet are:
The Word= המילה
Page number= העמוד
Meaning= פירוש

1. Please read pages 4,5,6,7, in the book.

2. Write on your worksheet 5 words you don't understand on each of the pages above.
3. Write the meanings of 5 of those words. (You can look them up in the dictionary, or use the website morfix.com (With parents’ approval and assistance.)

Dear Parents and Students,
Again I want to share with you how proud I was of the 5th grade students for their wonderful Hebrew performance on special person’s day.
This week we completed our book reports on the library book
- המורה החדש מישראל" The new teacher from Israel ".
Please stop by the 5th grade bulletin board, by the Hebrew learning center, to read and see our informative and decorated book reports.
Next week: We will learn a unit about fruits and vegetables. The new vocabulary from this new unit will be tied to the previous topic related vocabulary units that we leaned. Our goal is to build up our vocabulary, and to use it more and more in Hebrew conversations.
